Gates of Muspel – Karmanjaka

Released last February 11th, 2022–via Grind to Death Records, is Karmanjaka and their 3rd full-length album: Gates of Muspel.

The album follows their latest EP Hugin released in 2021.

Gates of Muspel is an album that is between Melodeath and Progressive Death Metal, although it is Death Metal.

I need to consider the fact that Karmanjaka started as a one-man-band (which I always admire) in 2016 but evolved rapidly into five mate band soon after.

Cool and interesting album. Karmanjaka needs more attention.

Enjoy!

XX – Re-Armed

From Kerava, Finland–last January 27th (2022) was released XX by Re-Armed independently to cut out extra time during the Covid crisis and to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The style is reminiscent of Keep of Kalessin and Amorphis with a mix of death and thrash metal, but still melodeath.

To share the band’s words:

“We wanted to put together a somewhat special release that includes something new, but also echoes from the past. The new and the latest single, ‘Tomorrow,’ from the release is a great example of that. The track was originally released under the name of ‘Morrow’ in 2002 as the first demo for the band. It was more than exciting to shake its foundations after all these years and make it a much better song. Now you can actually feel and hear its strong emotional charge that’s been hidden in that shitty demo version, heh.

“Of course, it could have been way easier to pick up some songs from all the previous releases and make just some kind of collection album, but it sounded already, in the beginning, a so damn boring idea. And since coronavirus came and shuffled the pack with our previous album promotion tours, etc., it basically canceled most of our booked shows at that time. What else do we have than time to make some new music? Staying put and waiting for some virus to disappear would have been a pure waste of time. Massive thank goes to our partners in crime, all these guys and girls who helped us to put this bungle together. We shared our vision with them and asked for help here and there, especially this happened with the special track versions. The end result is great and special indeed. Enjoy!”

Not bad, but it doesn’t dishevel my wonderful bald head.

Sentence – Beyond The Styx

Ultra F*ck!

Machine Head meets Ringworm… Ultra F*ck!

Beyond The Styx with Sentence, releasing this February 4th 2022 via WTF Records and Diorama Records.

The album delivers fully. It’s 2022 stuff. Like refreshing after two sh*tty years predicted by Cattle Decapitation and Bring Back The Plague from their 2019th Death Atlas release…

It’s refreshing as F*CK!

Enjoy it! Better is coming!

The Rise Of Evil:Killer Instinct – Rimfrost

The Swedish band Rimfrost are back, returning with a 2-piece single, The Rise Of Evil : Killer Instinct released independently January 6th 2022.

After the splitting of the band in 2019, they came back to the studio in 2021 to record Killer Instinct (released in 2021) and these two songs which in all follows the theme of their previous album Expedition : Darkness released in 2019.

The songs are reminiscent of Scandinivian Blackened Heavy Metal.

Enjoy!

Lost Elegies – Primalfrost

Cold as ice Primalfrost from the man-band Dean Paul Arnold (touring guitarist Belphegor, Operus, ex-Vital Remains) was released last Dec 28th, 2021 – Lost Elegies; a poignant metal epic in the realms of folklorish metal and melodic Scandinavian metal.

I’m nearly fond of this kind of music nearing Amorphis and Scandinavian metal. But still, I enjoyed listening the album the multiple times it took to lay this post.

Enjoy!

Revenge At All Costs – Confess

After 18 months of imprisonment in Iran for being bullheaded metal artists, Confess seeked asylum in Norway and are back with a new album Solid-As-F*ck : Revenge At All Costs released today, January 21st 2022!

Reminiscent of late 90s metal aka, Slipnot, Sepultura, Pantera and Machine Head, the album is loaded with heavy grooves and sustained shredding.

Enjoy !
