Gates of Muspel – Karmanjaka

Released last February 11th, 2022–via Grind to Death Records, is Karmanjaka and their 3rd full-length album: Gates of Muspel.

The album follows their latest EP Hugin released in 2021.

Gates of Muspel is an album that is between Melodeath and Progressive Death Metal, although it is Death Metal.

I need to consider the fact that Karmanjaka started as a one-man-band (which I always admire) in 2016 but evolved rapidly into five mate band soon after.

Cool and interesting album. Karmanjaka needs more attention.

Enjoy!

Revenge At All Costs – Confess

After 18 months of imprisonment in Iran for being bullheaded metal artists, Confess seeked asylum in Norway and are back with a new album Solid-As-F*ck : Revenge At All Costs released today, January 21st 2022!

Reminiscent of late 90s metal aka, Slipnot, Sepultura, Pantera and Machine Head, the album is loaded with heavy grooves and sustained shredding.

Enjoy !

Metta, Benevolence BBC 6Music : Live on the Invitation of Mary Anne Hobbs – Sunn O)))

Another one from Sunn O))), recorded in 2019 in UK for the BBC 6 radio show, Samhain. Included in this ambient release is Troubled Air from the 2019 release Life Metal which I really enjoyed when it came out.

This album is already available on Bandcamp and merchandise is to be released in 2022.

‘Mankind Is Damned’ by Saboter – A Comment

coverOut last July 6th 2016, was Saboter‘s first full-length album ‘Mankind Is Damned‘ via Witches Brew label.

Excelling in the style of 80’s heavy metal in the likes of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, if you’re a fan of those and are looking for modern bands in these styles, Saboter is one of the bands you need to listen to.

Very heavy metal-ish with vocals ‘à la’ Dickenson and Halford, along with riffs shredding heavy metal like we used to listen to (am I getting old?), you need to listen to the following Bandcamp streaming widget to get a feel of what I’m talking about and get immersed back in 1987 and bang your head with the devil’s sign and fist in the air. I am getting old…

Illusory by Cognizance – A Comment

coverOut last August 26th 2016, was Cognizance‘s latest self-released EP, Illusory.

A powerful technical death metal EP, they keep doing their studio stuff with high quality musicianship and great talent.

Expect technicality like the other well renowned bands in the empowering style of tech death like Necrophagist, but an itsy-bitsy more melodic. At least that’s my opinion.

For those who would like to see them live, they seem to not venture in that direction as they mention in the Gear Gods interview below, as they focus mainly to deliver high quality studio recordings and they haven’t the resources to do touring and do full-length albums also.

But you can listen to their EPs through the following Bandcamp streaming widget and buy, buy, buy, as they produce greatness that licks our eardrums with delicacy.
